Evan Hansen is a 17-year-old high school student who suffers from social anxiety disorder. His therapist advises him to write letters to himself to help build his confidence. When one of his classmates, Connor, commits suicide, Evan finds himself at the center of the turmoil. In a misguided attempt to comfort the grieving family, Evan pretends that he was Connor’s best friend.
